Getting his Appetite Back

He was very perturbed by me taking his picture...

But quickly decided that "cheesing" was more fun :D

The spaghettios were good while they lasted, but he's still feeling very lethargic. He might be hungry and holding down food, but the poor Smidget still feels all yucky inside. But that's what Mamas are for--- for making the babies ALL BETTER!

Wardrobe Change!

After barfing on the CUTE outfit,
Mama decides she's not cooking for dinner,
so the 3 bears decide to go out in search of Chinese food.

But, first, a quick trip to the NH 29P to pick up mama's prescription for percocet. Because when you're having contractions and you don't have to worry about fetal health, there's no need to be in THAT much pain!

Feeling a tad better, maybe?

Well, day 3 started rough, but by evening he was playing a little!
While Mama took a quick nap, Daddy and Smidget played a little Wii...

And Smidget demonstrated why mama likes the adjustable waistband on 3T shorts...
which Daddy forgot to take the label off of before he put them on the Smidget...
Or, ya know, wash them before letting him wear them!

Isn't that the cutest pantsless man you've ever seen?
Well, after Mama got up from her nap,
she taught Daddy about adjustable waistbands.
And, thus, the no-pants issue was solved....

But more fun was to be had that day...

Don't mind the mess of dog-toys and Smidget's swing in teh background
*swing has not yet been put in the tree out back*
or the broom Smidget likes to play with.
Mama was letting him go a little wild since he hadn't played
---or made any mess--- in 3 days!

And he sure does enjoy making a little mess :D

Sampling his "shoop" he made (water from the fridge door :D)

Evidently it needs to be strained (and spilled everywhere too)

Sick man: Day 2

Finally able to keep juice down around naptime of Day 2.
But he just was so lethargic and listless that he just couldn't get up the energy to play!
Poor little teeny bugger! J
ust spent the whole day on the couch with mama's pillow!

Finally, after Daddy got home he went out to play in the yard .
It lasted 2 minutes before he came back in and laid back on the couch.
I say again, POOR SMIDGET!

Sickly boy...

Well, little man caught a Tummy virus this weekend from his friend Maddox,
and it took a couple of days for his symptoms to set in,
so today was when the little man just couldn't take it anymore...

He spent the whole day spewing and then, finally,
collapsed on top of his mama for his nap.
Right after giving 3 half-hearted raspberries on her tummy.
At least he was TRYING to play.
He didn't play ALL day, but just felt yucky. Poor guy!!!

Who Screams?

ICECREAM!!!

YUM! A Drumstick! YUM!!!

Sometimes you give them icecream just to get this face :D

"What? Do I have some on my face? Where? HERE???"
That is the handsomest man in the entire world :D

After all the drinking...

The poor little frat-boy in training passes out and sleeps hard :D
Handsome little worn out man!

Yep, totally snoozled out with his drink in-hand. Next time, I'm totally drawing another mustache on him!!!

Yep, it must have been one very good party :D

TOGA TOGA TOGA!!!

My son decided today was a great day for a toga-party
I put his clothes on him and he looked like a normal little kid.
I stepped into the kitchen to make us some lunch and came back
only to find that a frat-party had broken out in my living-room.

Note the discarded "drink" on my couch
and the sofa pillows all thrown about haphazardly
and the young man in a toga with wild hair
who was dancing and singing and grunting
all while trying to discard more of his clothing :D

I can see what my life is going to be like in about 17 years :D

Lazy Sunday!

This is how Smidget spends the first 1/2 hour of his day. The first 15 minutes are spent wrapped up in his (stolen!!!) blanket while mama holds him. Then he sits beside Mama and eats his breakfast (Yum! Dry cereal today!) I made this blanket out of scrap skeins of yarn to use them up. it has become the favorite blanket of my Smidget. he will carry it ALL around the living room with him and snuggle it and cover up with it! he likes it much better than his baby blanket that I made him--- or any of the 296064 store-bought blankets in this house.

And this is how he spends the NEXT half hour after waking up--- He screams BALL! and we chase each other and play ball. Then we change diaper and get dressed for the day (well, sometimes we get dressed). All in all, our morning routine is pretty damn awesome :D

Happy Birthday Maddox!

This was Ax's third birthday party this month... Tristian, Kai, and Maddox turned 1, 2, and 3 respectively... Maybe this'll be good practice so he'll know what to expect for HIS birthday??? We'll see! Here's a picture of him eating his sponge-bob themed cucpcake!

Oh, and don't mind the HUGE shirt. Its gymboree 3T, which he's not fat enough for :(
I have 2 of their 3T shirts and both are really wide :(
I hope he EVENTUALLY fits them!

Just because...

I love this picture!
There was a plane flying over and he was like "BIRD!!!"
I just said "close enough, buddy!"

Taking out the Recycling...

I bet you didn't know... SMIDGETS ARE 100% RECYCLABLE!!!

This was the face he made when I told him I was going to take him to the recycling center. He doesn't seem to believe it :D

Puddle Jumper

As we were leaving the park
Smidget found a little puddle under the picnic awning...
(this is where we're having his birthday party, by the way!)
My favorite little monster is totally incapable of passing a puddle without a little splashing :D

Running through to test it out!

STOMP STOMP STOMP!!!

Grinning Monster :D

My Monster was a VERY happy monster today! Today we got nothing but grins and giggles and love! I guess he likes going to the park :D

Climging UP the big-boy tunnel!

On the see-saw with mama!

A little break for snack-time!!!

Stop and Smell the Roses...

At the park, I found some gorgeous roses in bloom.
I decided to see what I could do.
These are TOTALLY UNEDITED photos of the roses I found.
I am going back this week so I can see if I can get photos just as good of the open blooms too!

Easter Basket:

Here's my list of stuff for The Smidget's Easter basket:

1. Candy---not a lot, but a bit.
2. Sidewalk chalk.
3. Big-ass bottle of bubbles.
4. Easter Eggs filled with snacks---
----Goldfish
----Fruit Loops
----Cheerios
----Raisins
----Peeps (2 eggs, 1 peep per).
----Pretzels.
5. Matchbox cars (2-3)
6. A new ball (because he needs more *insert eye roll*)
7. Chocolate Bunny
8. Water gun/shooter.
9. Book??? WHAT BOOK!?! I'd like something Easter/Spring oriented
10. Maybe a new Sippy Cup  (the Thermos kind that keeps stuff cold 12 hours, handy for summer)

What do you think? Anything I should switch out?
Opinions PLEASE!?!

Home Sweet Home

I've come to the conclusion that my uterus must be quite cozy and homey.

NONE of my children have wanted to leave the comfort of Mama's body.

My first baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. He stayed put in his little nest for another 5 weeks and 4 days before my body finally wasn't as hospitable.

My second baby stayed put for a whopping 40 weeks and 4 days. He stayed where he was planted until there was no more room for him to grow. I'm convinced that he only made his way into the world because he had a charlie horse in his butt from being so cramped. Even with preterm labor issues. Even with dilating very early and being over 3 centimeters dilated at 35 weeks, he still said "oh no! I'm not leaving!" until 4 days after his due date. He came at last because of 3 things: 1) He was out of room and cramped. 2) He knew his grandma was about to leave town, so he was safe. 3) He did NOT want to be forced out by the induction the doc wanted to schedule for Tuesday---Which was the day he finally emerged; how's that for good planning on his part?

This pregnancy is no different, of course. My first ultrasound was scheduled on February 14th after I experienced some light spotting and called the hospital for advice---I was 8 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Baby measured 8 weeks and 6 days. Baby had a great heartbeat and looked great. Wiggling just a little and soaking up the coziness.  My second ultrasound wasn't such a happy event, unfortunately. I went back in my 11th week on March 4th and discovered that baby only measured 9 weeks 5 days. That is 6 days worth of growth in 3 weeks. There was also no heartbeat. By my math, that means that baby stopped developing 6 days after my initial ultrasound: February 20, 2011.  Today is March 23, 2011. We are at 4 weeks and 3 days after the point at which this baby ceased to live. But, he is still holding tight in there.

So, my only conclusion is that my uterus is filled with tasty snacks and beverages. Is warm and cozy and soft and fluffy and full of awesome entertainment. Basically, its the cool place to hang out.

Not that I begrudge this baby any time that he wants to spend in there, keeping himself company with mama's heartbeat and snacking on all the delicious foods mama cooks, but the waiting is starting to take its toll. I've gone past having enough time to deal with the emotional part of what is to come and had enough time to over-analyze and over-plan and over-think. Its 3 am and I'm sitting here on my computer when I have a big comfy bed in the next room. Instead of sleeping, I just lay there wondering when it would happen. How long it would take. Who I'd need to call. Who I'd get to watch the Smidget. How my hubby will deal with it. How I'll function to do what I need to do on a daily basis while dealing with it.  Very very difficult to get sleep when you have that much on your mind...

So, I'm left to ponder random things. Like how awesome my uterus must be.

Maybe I should get a stereo installed in there?

1 little monkey, jumping on the bed!

This is the Smidget's favorite thing to do in his bed. He LOVES to dance on a freshly made bed more than just about anything.

Except maybe JUMPING on his bed :D
This was what he did today while Mama got
clean clothes to put on him for the day :D

In Daddy's Shoes

Somebody decided to try on Daddy's boots.
He had a LITTLE trouble getting going:D

He wasn't so sure of himself at first.

BUT, he got the hang of it and has decided that he's 100% ready
to be a big-guy :D

Dear Biscuit---

At my first OB appointment and ultrasound, I discovered that my beautiful baby had no heartbeat and had stopped growing and developing nearly 2 weeks before. Devastated is putting it pretty damn mildly. I'm okay unless I'm by myself and have time to think (like this morning).

Today I woke up because I had to pee at 6 am. Just like nearly every morning since I found out I was pregnant. I brushed my teeth and nearly barfed several times, just like every morning since I found out I was pregnant...if I didn't know better, I'd have no idea that my baby wasn't alive and well and floating happily in my belly.

I still have a belly.

In fact, everything is exactly the same. Except now I KNOW I won't be having a baby come September.

For now, I'm just waiting for my body to do what I know it will do. Just waiting for it to all be over. And hoping for a miracle of some kind. Its been over 4 weeks since my baby's heart stopped thumping.

Here are my thoughts to my unborn lost little one:

Dear Biscuit---

I love you more than you will ever know. Daddy and I tried so hard to create you and waited months and months for those two beautiful pink lines. When I got that faint positive, I almost didn't believe it. I didn't FEEL pregnant. With both of my earlier pregnancies (your lost big brother and your Big Brother Smidget), I just KNEW before I ever peed on a stick. This time I peed because a friend suggested I should---dared me, really. And being the addict for pregnancy tests that I was, I did.

I planned to tell Daddy in some cutesy way, but I got too excited and texted him. I held onto that stick ALL day and every time I'd glance at it my heart would race and I just was so excited that I could barely contain myself. I posted pictures online and shared it with a few friends. We called your grandparents and told them. Everyone was so super excited! Especially Big Daddy. He said he's definitely ready for more grandbabies. He put in his order for another boy, because he's a little scared of baby girls and wants to keep the numbers even for grandbabies.

I think I peed on 30 pregnancy tests in the weeks following. And I danced. I loved watching them get darker and darker. I loved knowing that you were in there growing and becoming a tiny little person. I started taking belly pictures immediately too. I got to watch you grow from the outside and was already so excited to think about the changes that were happening to my body as a result of the changes in yours. I loved teaching your brother about the baby in Mama's belly. He would give you kisses and blow raspberries for you and pet you. And if you ask him where the baby is he'd either blow a raspberry on my tummy or he'd lift his shirt and show me HIS belly. He didn't quite understand the concept, but he would have made such an amazing big brother to you. He would have loved you so much. SO much.

Daddy was so excited. I know a lot of Daddies want toddlers, not little newborn babies, but not YOUR Daddy. He was excited to feel you kick and watch you be born and to dress you in your teeny clothes and snuggle you and even to change your diapers and rock you to sleep. He kept talking about all the silly things we used to do with your big brother when he was teeny and wondering if you'd like the same things or if you'd want new things. We kept talking about how we wanted you to never have to drink yucky formula or wear awful paper diapers and how I wanted to baby-wear so you'd be close to me always and wondered if you'd be as big as your brother when you were finally born. Mommy knew that if she could give birth to your big ol' brother without pain meds that she could do it again, but she was a little worried you'd go over the 10lb mark that your brother came so close to. 10lbs seemed a little bit scary, but I KNEW I could do it. I was actually looking forward to it, because I know that once I make it to Labor & Delivery, that I'll be SO close to meeting you. SO CLOSE!.

But now I know I'll never get that opportunity. You won't be born anywhere near your bother's birth weight. I won't go over due again. I won't ever hold you in my arms and sing you to sleep or nurse you at my breast and watch you fall into that amazing milk-drunk trance. I won't ever dress you up and be amazed at how tiny your shirts are or lock you in your carseat just to triple check it again and again to make sure you're safe. I won't ever get to place you in your Daddy's arms and watch him melt. I won't ever get to call your grandma and grandpa with updates about your first smile or your first word or send them pictures of you and all your amazing beauty.

And you'll never really know the depth and breadth of our love for you. As I watched that ultrasound on that awful day when we saw that your heart had stopped beating inside me, the sobs overwhelmed me. I watched as you floated in there being shaken ever so gently by the awful sobs that totally consumed me. As I cried, I couldn't help but think that you probably hated being shaken up.

I saw your heart beating once. For only a few seconds. But those few moments were the most perfect moments of my life. I know you lived. I know at some point you lived and moved and felt this love I feel for you. And I know that wherever your tiny little soul lives now, that you KNOW that your Mama will always love you. Always.

You have not disappointed me, baby. You could never do that. Not ever. You are everything a Mama could ever want. You are beautiful with your teeny toes and your fingers up by your face. You have such long gorgeous legs, just like your brother and Daddy. And when I saw your profile I saw your nose turns up on the end just like Mommy's nose. You are so perfect and amazing. And I feel so awful that I couldn't keep you forever. That I won't get to watch you grow up to be the beautiful person that I know you would be. Or wonder if you'd have my dark hair and green eyes, or daddy's chocolate brown eyes, or maybe even your brother's unexpected combination of blond hair and blue eyes. Would you have wavy hair like Grandma or straight like Mama? Are you a little boy or a little girl?

I am so very in love with you. I prayed continuously that God would grant me some miracle and that I wouldn't start bleeding. That I'd go back to follow up with the doctor and he'd discover your perfect little heart beating away. But, in my head, I knew that it wouldn't happen that way. I just knew. But my heart still can't accept it yet. My heart still has hope for you, baby. So much.

So, as I sit here on the couch, with tears rolling down my face, awake only because my body still doesn't know you're gone and I still wake to pee at night..awake because I could not lay in bed and hold your brother without crying and I didn't want to wake him or Daddy...as I sit here, just know that I will ALWAYS love you with every part of me. And that I'm so sorry we didn't get more time together. And that I'll never kiss your face or feel your tiny fingers wrap around my thumb. I love you, baby. SOOOOO much. I hope you know that. I will love you and both your siblings with every single breath, every single beat of my heart, for the rest of my life. So much that it hurts. And until I can be with ALL of you again someday, just know that Mommy is here if you ever need her and that I will be thinking of you.

Your big brother is almost 3 now. He was only your age when we lost him, but he's a big boy now. He'll watch out for you til Mommy gets there, baby. He'll take care of you. Just go sit on Great-grandpa's lap and he'll tell you stories and snuggle you and your big brother will play with you. I love you both, tell him that for me. So much.

I will miss you little one. Always. Mommy wanted you SO much. I will always remember you. Your big brother Gabriel and your big brother Ax both love you. And, although we haven't given you a name yet, you are not loved ANY less. I sit here with you still in my belly, not knowing when the worst will come...but know that I treasure every day that I get to keep you with me and know that when you're ready to say goodbye to your Mama that you'll be born and find your way. Until then, I know you can hear mama's big ol' heart pumping away with love for all her perfect little babies.

Mama loves you so very much. Always remember that, little one. You'll always be my little Biscuit.

Love,
Mama.

Peach Cobbler WIN!

If you don't mind the ring of bubbled juice that burned a little, you can see my beautiful peach cobbler.
If I make it again (I will), I'll be using twice as many peaches,
but it tasted FANTASTIC with a little vanilla bean icecream on the side.

I LOVED it. And the recipe is SUPER DUPER easy. So easy Jenny could do it!

New Bike Trailer

We picked this up for Ax. It trails behind Daddy's bike.
Could be pretty cool! Just gotta get a hitch so we can ride!

I think its a HIT!

My parmesean crusted chicken and penne with red sauce...
And Garlic Bread hiding in the corner...

I think the monster liked it!!!
He ate the WHOLE container of it!

Yep, definitely a fan!!!

In retrospect, I probably should have taken off his shirt---
But, that's what God invented stain-sticks for, right?

Note: There were no stains on the shirt after I washed it.
I think it might have actually stayed (gasp!) CLEAN through dinner!!!
*faints*
